GPM Factory at Central Taiwan Science Park, Gallant Precision Machining Co., Ltd.

In response to the rising demands in the booming industry, the client aimed through this project at meeting customers’ facility requirements for panel generations 7.5 and 8 and beyond. The client established a branch and erected a new plant in the Central Taiwan Science Park.

The complex contains a factory section and an office section. From the fourth floor down is the office section, where several independent, multi-function spaces are allocated for business, interview and meeting purposes. The design exhibits a human touch, with an employee dining hall, lounge and other facilities aligned. From the basement to the second floor above grade is the factory section. A class 1000 to 10,000 clean room is planned in the 9-meter high factory space above grade. The rooftop is used for parking and mechanical equipment.

Given the limited site area, the factory is planned as a rectangular volume to make the most of the space and to save building costs. The frontcourt allows for the main entrance, and the factory is surrounded by a route that doubles as driveway stretching along the slope around the exterior walls, leading to the rooftop parking. The separate wall planks alongside the driveway are of the same material as the factory, installed with the concept of a Chinese screen. The design not only reduces the visual impact from the ascending driveway, but also avoids a total seclusion from the outward scenes.
