2017 Delta Cup of International Solar Energy Competition has officially begun. The contest took place in Xi’an and Quanzhou as aimed locations for the building of two new residences for the elderly respectively.
Invited by the competition’s press conference, Joshua Jih Pan, FAIA exchanged views on green architecture practices with teachers and students from Tsing Hua University, China National Engineering Research Center for Human Settlements, and China Architecture Design Group.
Through cases of Delta Electronics of Historical Heritage Building Taichung First High School Student Center & Archive, Plant Phase II, , Delta Products Corporation Headquarters and Ring of Celestial Bliss, Pan explained “Delta is a remarkable proprietor who has always supported architects’ innovations and sustainable practices.
In addition, Pan utilized the case of Social Welfare Park of Suang-Lien Presbyterian Church to elaborate on the topic of the essentials in elderly-accommodative (頤養的適老性) design and concluded with Tomas Cole’s painting. He encouraged everyone who worked in architecture-related fields to respect and carefully distribute resources and to use innovations with a sense of responsibility, making efforts on the future of sustainable construction.
