China Metal Products Village in Search of The Secret of Happiness

On December the 23rd, Joshua Pan, FAIA, was invited to attend a new book launch of “Finding the Way: China Metal Products (CMP) Village in Search of the Secret of Happiness” and conversed with Mr. Chengyu He, general manager of CMP Village, about the origin and future vision of the three-year trial run of glamping village. Shuzhang Gong, a notable architect, Baobao Lin, the author of the book, and Jingmei Xu, the village chief, also shared their observations and practices in the pilot run.

Mr. Pan mentioned that he was very surprised when received the invitation from CMP to serve as a design consultant for the whole resort including “Artisans Village(職人村)” and “Craftsmen Place(匠之宿)” because he was not like a young, up-and-coming artist who had collaborated with CMP in the past. After further observation, Mr. Pan noted that CMP’s team always strived to bring together nature and art during their work process. CMP Village breaks rules by not copying other amusement parks’ concepts from foreign countries, but set a stage for young artists to create new lifestyle stories. The villagers who have come to experience also felt so proud to witness a hard-working time. Finally, Mr. Pan encouraged everyone to name the final result with the language of this land and looked forward to everyone’s response.
